LEARNING OBJECTIVES:        

          Upon successful completion of this program the participant will be able to:   

n  Recognize common signs and symptoms of depression that tend to be overlooked  in primary care patients who present with medical problems.

n     Recall landmark research studies relevant to medical comorbidities and depression.

n  Implement safe and effective treatment strategies for treating primary care patients who present with medical comorbidities associated with depression.

n     Identify a variety of antidepressant medications on the market and understand how to choose the best antidepressant medications for depressed primary care patients with medical comorbidities, taking into account their differences with respect to safety, efficacy and tolerability.
